Brady Water Plan Faces Financing Hurdles and Opposition
City officials briefed Pollard on water supply, power plant expansion, and potential wool processing growth tied to a surface water source. Financial advisor C. M. Smith said Brady cannot finance the bonds at reasonable rates, noting 4 to 5 percent interest if sold privately, with annual charges possibly exceeding city capacity. Attendees included FHA, SCS, bankers, engineers, and the Water Board as FHA demand notes and city audits, bond/rate ordinances, and land easements are compiled.
