Registration for Brady High School students runs August 17 for seniors at 10 a.m. and juniors at 1 30 p.m. August 18 begins sophomores at 9 a.m. and freshmen at 1 30 p.m. New junior high students register August 17 at 1 p.m. Bring birth certificate immunization record and report card.
The City Council met in special session to set building size limits for Winters Addition at Brady Lake. Minimum bids range from 1 500 to 5 000 dollars with 10 year payment terms and 8 percent interest. Commercial lots one and eight will have city inspection rights and residential lots are limited to use as specified. Bids require a 10 percent certified check and will be advertised in the newspaper once notices are ready.
A W Moore 49 of San Angelo died after a brief illness at Shannon Hospital. He was wwii veteran, formerly of Brady, founded A W Moore Trucking in Kermit, later co owning San Angelo Sand Gravel and Midland Concrete. Survivors include wife Jerry, son David of Houston, daughter Mrs Winford Short of Lohn, brother Marvin Moore of Kermit, sister Mrs N H Phillips of Snyder, and five grandchildren. Funeral held in Kermit.
A community Bible school ran July 31 to August 4 at Rochelle Baptist Church. Children aged three to fifteen attended daily, averaging 36 to 45 participants. Youth offerings will support nursing homes. Teachers included Mrs Ray Stites Mr Jerry Caraway and others with aides listed.

Ynez Garcia of Brady died Wednesday at 1 20 a m in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral Thursday at 3 30 p m at St Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev Ray Pomaville officiating. Burial in Live Oak Cemetery under Wilkerson Funeral Home direction. Born April 20 1902 in Devine she married Henry Garcia who died in 1938. Survived by four sons Victor and Margarita Garcia of Brady Domingo Garcia of Corpus Christi Joe Garcia of Waxahachie two daughters Mrs Frank Laureles and Mrs Benito Valdez Brady two brothers Santos and Sylvester Gomez Brady one sister Mrs Josephine Rodriguez Brady 37 grandchildren 16 great grandchildren.
First Baptist Church at Sixth and Elm Streets hosts a free screening of For Pete's Sake on Wednesday Aug 16 at 7:30 p.m. The Eastmancolor comedy drama from World Wide Pictures follows Pete Harper, a family man and service station owner, facing life’s trials with renewed strength. The family film features Robert Sampson Pippa Scott John Milford Sam Groom and others. Rev. Ray Ash invites all local families.
A baseball tournament is scheduled for Sunday August 13 beginning at 9 00 a m at Richards Park with the Lohn Winters Santa Anna and Fredericksburg teams set to play.
A new round of showers hit McCulloch County on Wednesday with varied totals. Lohn logged 2.00 inches, Fife 1.87 inches, Melvin 1.40 locally and 2.40 at Barnett Ranch, Brady Lake 1.20, Ford Ranch 1.80, and Brady City measured 0.39 inches per U S Weather Observer Don Freeman.
