Registration opens for general election through October sixth

Voters may register for the November 7 election if they submit by October 6. The year round system requires registration 31 days before the election. Qualifications include US citizenship, 18 years old, and not previously registered before October 1971. Registration options are in person at the county tax collector or by mail, with automatic renewal after voting in a three year cycle.

Water Rights Petition Circulating Across Five Texas Counties

Bible Reading Marathon Draws 200 Participants

About 200 readers joined the Bible Reading Marathon starting 12:30 p.m. Wednesday on the square and continuing 174 hours to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Mrs. C A Trigg of Brady read first, with nine Kentuckians among participants and one reader en route from New York to California. Ray Waugh Jr., president of Bible Reading Marathon Inc., helped complete the final verses.

TOPICS Program Under Study in Canyon Coleman and Brady

The Texas Highway Commission directs planning studies for TOPICS street improvement projects in Canyon Randall County Coleman Coleman County and Brady McCulloch County. Absentee Voting Opens for Brady Sales Tax Election

McCulloch Electric Cooperative Sets August 5 Meeting

The McCulloch Electric Cooperative will hold its annual membership meeting Saturday at 9 a.m. in the school cafeteria. Reps. Lynn Nabors of Brownwood and Grant Jones of Abilene will attend as guests. City Council tackles power plant issues and park annex plans

Brady officials reviewed the Enterprise power plant engine problems and discussed a possible annexation of Richards Park into the city limits. They also addressed eye line safety rules, an abandoned vehicle ordinance, and ongoing Brady Lake management with the US Geological Survey.

Lohn School Starts Aug 21 With Assembly

Lohn School will open August 21 for students. Teachers attend in service in Brady August 14 to 16 and workdays in Lohn August 17 and 18. School begins 8 25 a m with a general assembly in the Lohn tabernacle at 9 a m. Ortizs return from California after a month visiting relatives in Los Angeles Cuba City Woodland and Chester.
