Rochelle Independent School District announces a free and reduced price lunch policy for children unable to pay full price. Families meeting income scales or facing hardships may apply by submitting completed forms sent home, with copies at the principal's office. Applications may be submitted anytime. hearings available on appeal.
Fort Worth observer Oscar E. Monnig led a questionnaire of McCulloch County residents after a fireball crossed North Texas at 5 28 am on March 23. Reports from Fort Worth Brownwood Abilene and other towns were collected and cross checked with a Vernon pilot sighting to trace the event’s path and end near Anson.
Brady schools prepare to open for the 1972-73 year with registration for returning students on Monday August 21. New enrollees must present birth certificates immunization records and prior report cards. Bus routes cafeteria lunch prices and school hours are announced with zoning details for elementary grades and transfer policies.
City voters will cast ballots Saturday on a proposed sales and use tax. Absentee ballots totaled fifty eight. Ballot box at City Hall open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Election judge Jim McFarlin assisted by James Walton. Brady has advertised in support. one opposing ad has appeared. Citizens urged to vote.
Grace Edna Wilder 83 of Brady died at 6 10 p m Tuesday at Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness Funeral services were held at 2 p m Thursday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with burial in Rest Haven Cemetery She was born November 8 1888 in Milam County and lived in Brady 58 years Survivors include daughters Mrs Mavel Davis of California Mrs Ivyll Otte of Brady and Mrs Loree Egan of San Antonio.
The annual barbecue for city employees and their families and city officials and their families is held Friday at 7 30 p m at Richards Park. Retired employees are invited to bring their families and attend.
Brady City Council heard four clubs request open use of Mayfield Center at Willie Washington Park and created a six member panel to set new access rules. The panel will ensure cleaner, fairer use of the center while an ordinance would annex Richards Park to Brady.
Lintz's Department Store was burglarized Wednesday night or Thursday morning after intruders broke the front door with a rock. Investigators report missing men's suits, women's clothing, and jewelry. Earlier in the week Luigi's Italian American Restaurant was robbed with about $40 taken from a cash register. The case remains under investigation.
Nolan Stewart of Brady faced theft over $30 charges in Justice of the Peace court. Bond set at $2500, with Stewart released on bond Wednesday after Texas Rangers and local law enforcement investigated a June 1 auto transmission theft. Houston trip follows for Bradley family for grandson Steven Kirklin wedding.
The July Jubilee Association will host two days of horse racing at G Rollie White Downs on Sept. 3 4 with 2 p.m. starts. Ten races daily under American Quarter Horse Association and Texas Racing Board rules, with advance tickets via Brady Chamber of Commerce and box seats at 25 dollars.
