Houn' Dawgs to Sell Grid Tickets and Barbecue Set
The Ol' Houn' Dawg athletic booster group will help sell Brady Bulldog home football season tickets this fall. Tickets go on sale August 10 at the Chamber of Commerce office with a goal to fill 650 reserved west grandstand seats. Remaining seats available through August 21, then first come first served. The group also announced the OHC fall barbecue at Richards Park on August 21 at 7:30 p.m. with introductions of high school players and a season briefing by Coach Del Wilson.

John H Polk Dies Tuesday at 90 in Brady
John Hamilton Polk 90 of Brady died at 6 15 pm Tuesday after a long illness in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital. Funeral services were held at 2 pm Thursday at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev Evans I Burleson officiating. Burial followed in Marion Cemetery. Born August 3 1880 in Concho County he lived in Brady the past two years and was a retired farmer. He married Myrtle Ward January 8 1914. she died in 1963. Survivors include three daughters Mrs Andy Gossett Brady Mrs Edna Cochran Midland and Mrs Alva Bowman Salt Gap a brother W E Polk Salt Gap three sisters Mrs Lela McCann Corpus Christi Mrs Maude Hardin and Mrs Willie Carter Brady seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Miss Awalt Dies After Long Illness in Abilene
Minnie Marie Awalt 59 of Abilene died at 8 am in an Abilene hospital after a long illness. Funeral at 4 pm Wednesday in Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Henry McBroom of the Fourth and Bridge Street Church of Christ officiating. Burial in Calf Creek Cemetery. Born March 25, 1911 in Calf Creek she had lived in Abilene the past decade. Survivors include three sisters Mrs Ethel Reeves of Hext Mrs Lucille LaFrance of Brady and Mrs Hazel Woodland of Austin.

Brady Independent School District boards propose a 842 640 operating budget for 1970 71 up 91 964 from 1969 70 due mainly to a legislated teacher pay raise. Instructional costs rise to 627 316 while federal consolidated funds total 52 521. Five new teachers are hired in vocational agriculture English girls coach and other instructional roles.
