Rough Rides Ahead For Boys in Rodeo

County FFA Rodeo slated for May 4 and 5 at Jubilee arena will feature senior and junior divisions with events such as bull riding steer riding and pole bending. Lloyd Woodley provides stock while E L Ross and Miers Johnson oversee management and officials include Don Ray Jordan and Tuffy Moseley. Admission is 1 for adults and 50 cents for students with entries due by April 30.

Brady High School Student Council Election Slated

Brady High School will elect Student Council officers for 1962 63 next week campaign starts Monday election Wednesday. Presidential candidates are Kenneth Hudspeth Joe King Crate Steffens and Robert Shutt le. for vice president Mark Day Ronnie Kyzar and Jimmy Criswell. secretary nominees include Mary Jo Trammell Jeannette Sorell Janice Breckenridge Diane King and Judy Davenport. The runner up for secretary becomes treasurer.

Registrations Arriving for Golf Tourney

The Heart of Texas Business men's Golf Tournament attracts growing interest with 35 advanced registrations for the Brady Municipal Golf Course events on May 31 and June 12. Del Rio plans a 19-member delegation, and entries span Houston, Hon do, San Antonio, San Marcos, Garland, plus Fort Worth, Dallas, Uvalde, Sonora, and Sabinas. The event limits players to businessmen over 25 in seven flights, totaling 112 players.

Brady High School names Virgil Moore valedictorian and Pat Porter salutatorian for the Class of 1962. Moore, 18, has 94.17 average, active in FFA and NHS. Porter, 17, with 93.87, holds class secretary post, band majorette, annual editor, NHS officer, DAR citizen, and most popular girl. Commencement at 8 p.m. May 24 in Bulldog Stadium with Dr. A Donald Bell of Howard Payne College as speaker.

Women Seek Donors For Bloodmobile Visit

Members of 12 women’s organizations will recruit donors for the Red Cross Bloodmobile’s Brady visit on Wednesday May 2. At least 70 pints are needed to meet the county quota. The Bloodmobile will be back only once more this fiscal year. Donors may come to the First Christian Church fellowship hall from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. no appointment is needed.

Eighty eight boys and five girls completed a two day commercial livestock feeding program tour in Fort Worth. They visited stockyards Swift & Company GM plant Six Flags Over Texas Goodwill Industries Justin Boot Company and Fort Worth National Bank while hosted by local leaders. Winners to be announced after May 15 with judging of contestant records.

Brady Talent Show Promises Wide City Talent Field

More than 30 entrants compete in the Brady High School auditorium Friday night in a city wide talent contest. Performers span elementary junior high and high school divisions with singers dancers and musicians. Proceeds fund a week long workshop to train next year's Student Council officers.
