Brady to get 110 bed nursing home complex

A new 110 bed brick veneer nursing home is under construction in Brady south of the Y at Highway 7 and Ranch Road 42. Owners Don Lambert of Sweetwater and C B Cochran of Snyder expect opening by mid July. The facility will employ about 60 locals, offer private baths, isolation room, doctor's offices, beauty shop, laundry, physical therapy, dining and cathedral roof with amber glass, and will follow state health and Veterans Administration guidelines.

Future Farmers Plan Rodeo Here

The Brady Chapter of Future Farmers of America will stage its annual rodeo on April 25 and 26 at G Rollie White Downs Arena. Two performances start at 7 50 PM. A queen’s contest will run during the rodeo. Entry blanks with fees are due by April 20 with no refunds. Junior entrants must be in eighth grade or below, seniors from grades nine through 12. Events include bull riding and several roping and racing contests with specified fees.

Rochelle Chuck Wagon Supper at Community Center

The Rochelle Study Club hosts the annual Chuck Wagon Supper at the Rochelle Community Center on Friday April 25. Serving from 6:30 to 8:50 p.m. features barbecued beef with trim mings and desserts for extra, corral cakes and pies sold, tickets $1.50 for adults and 50 cents for children under 12, proceeds fund center upkeep.

Prizes Highlight Jack's Opening

The grand opening of Jack's Liquor Store will be held Saturday with a drawing for three prizes. Brady's party headquarters at 100 Crothers Ave will be operated by Jack Miller and his wife, Rebe. The store offers liquor, champagne, wine, beer and a drive-in service. Registration for free prizes is open to all and no purchase is needed. First prize is a wall bar, second a portable bar with ice chest, third four leather covered mugs.

Showers Visit McCulloch Again in Stormy Weather

Thunderstorms swept the Heart of Texas region Wednesday night adding nearly an inch of moisture after last week. Lightning lit up the sky as April showers spread unevenly with .90 inch reported in several county areas while Melvin saw only sprinkles. Brady’s new weather observer T. A. Parker measured 0.62 inch.
