Rabbit drives scheduled in Rochelle and Lohn areas

Melvin's rabbit drive resets for 1 p.m. Saturday with hunters meeting at the community center. Andy Allen notes a decent Rochelle drive Wednesday but few hunters. A third hunt is planned Sunday in the Lohn Pear Valley area meeting at the Lohn tabernacle at 1 30 p m.

Bulldogs Clinch 13th District Track Title in Show of Strength

The Brady Bulldogs secured their 13th consecutive district track championship finishing with 87 points, well ahead of Fredericksburg and Gatesville. Lampasas Badgers scored 13 as Bus ter Smith’s injury limited their threat. San Saba trailed with 3. Coach Chuck York eyes a 15-man regional squad in Brenham on Saturday, April 25, while Jimmy Bratton misses the regional after pulling a muscle in the highs. Dan Gandy's status for the regional remains uncertain.

Fowler Brown Duo First in Girls Tennis

Betty Fowler and Carlene Brown won the Brady High girls doubles at the District 17-AA tennis meet. San Saba led the meet with four division titles, while Gatesville and Fredericksburg athletes claimed multiple events in senior divisions.

Building for Future PTA Conference Highlights

Mrs. L. L Ledger urged delegates to work for those who come after while 327 officers and visitors attended the Seventh District PTA meeting at Brady High School. Austin will host in 1961 with Taylor chosen for 1960, as workshops addressed PTA programs and community cultural arts were praised for enriching home life.

Rochelle will host the District 21 B track meet on Saturday with preliminaries at 3 p m and finals at 7 p m. Rochelle coach Jerrell Rice directs the event featuring three divisions: high school junior and grade school.

Brady wins the junior division with 67 points in the District 17-AA meet as Lampasas places second and Fredericksburg third. Charles Reynolds set two records in the 120 yard low hurdles and 60 yard high hurdles, Sammy Petty jumps 19.7 for a new mark, and Carlos Klaerner ties a record in the 106. Farm Loan Association Elects Board

Parker Pumphrey was elected president of the National Farm Loan Association of Brady with stockholders and directors meeting at the National Guard Armory. Lamar Wilkerson of Menard named vice president and Egan Fowler Brady secretary treasurer. Floyd Marshall Named Melvin Superintendent

The Melvin School Board elected Floyd Marshall as superintendent to replace retiring K. QO. Ellington. Marshall, a Lohn native, has been Melvin principal for 25 years after starting as a teacher there. The board also reopened applications for the high school principal post and re elected the district staff for next year.

Aggie Muster Here Tuesday Speaks at Armory

Jones Ramsey Texas A and M College publicity director will speak at the 3-M A&M Club muster on Tuesday April 21 at the National Guard Armory. The gathering includes Aggies from Mason McCulloch Menard Kimble and Concho Counties and invites all local Aggies. Supper at 7 30 p m tickets 1 50 wife attendees welcomed. Son of Bradyites Receives Summer Institute Scholarship

W. L. Cave, Brady area high school chemistry and physics teacher, was awarded a scholarship by the National Science Foundation in cooperation with the Atomic Energy Commission and private industry groups. He will study Topics in Chemistry and Physics at Baylor University. Cave is the son of Mr and Mrs V V Cave. He previously earned a science scholarship to the University of Texas two years ago.
