Spring weather brings Straw Hat Days in Brady for men to shop for straw hats. Participating stores include Samuel's Lintz's Wilensky Huffman Penney's Perry's and John's Boot and Western Store. Event ties to Easter parade timing.
Invitations mailed to 114 former participants for the seventh annual Heart of Texas Men's Golf Association tournament set May 28 to 31 in Brady. Organizers expect 125 golfers and 350 to 400 visitors with seven flights, local qualifying, and championship rounds May 28 to 31 at the municipal course.
DEW, Inc. of San Antonio awarded a $58,900 contract for air conditioning and lighting work at the Brady U S Post Office. The bid was the lowest of six bids received. Work is expected to be completed around October, per John M. McGee, Regional Administrator, GSA Dallas.

Precinct 1 J W Harkrider 157 votes. Precinct 3 L C Barton 46 votes.
The Kimble Menard Singing Convention will be held Sunday April 18 at the London Baptist Church starting at 2 p.m. Local residents are invited to attend the community singing event featuring performances by local groups.

Terry Townsend of Brady will pay tribute at an appreciation dinner at the First Christian Church on April 24 at 7 30 p m John William Hughes of Brady chairs the committee. Speakers include Ben Barnes Louis Crump and James Nugent. Townsend a Brady native born February 28 1935 is a fourth term representative from the 65th district.
A cool spell and a brief thunderstorm Wednesday evening dropped .2 inch of rain on Brady and parts of McCulloch County. The unsettled weather washed dust from lawns but offered little moisture benefit. Maundy Thursday Communion service held Thursday at 7 30 PM at the First Methodist Church. An Upper Room Communion ceremony seated twelve at the tables at one time.
