Brady High School Athletes Head to UIL Regional Meet

Brady High School entries depart for the UIL regional meet in Lubbock for a three day competition. Cancer Crusade House-to-House Drive Tuesday

The McCulloch County Unit of the American Cancer Society will conduct its annual house to house drive on Tuesday April 27 at 6 o clock in the evening. Volunteers from across the county will ring doorbells to ask for donations to this year’s Cancer Crusade and to pass out educational materials for all to read. Won’t you please give generously to this worthy cause.

Brady FHA Girls To State Meeting

Two Brady Future Homemakers members will attend the state meeting in Dallas on Friday and Saturday. Gail McBroom is chapter president. Kathy Day and Connie Sue Engdahl attend the convention with Engdahl as voting delegate. Homemaking teacher Mrs Mies Helen Marjie Snell will accompany the students.

Jubilee Directors Meet Monday To Plan Celebration

Jubilee Board of Directors will meet Monday night April 26 at 7 36 at the Plateau Restaurant to start plans for the July Jubilee and appoint chairmen and committees. The Jubilee float will skip the Fiesta Flambeau in San Antonio due to a broken car and the committee will buy a replacement to attend parades in nearby towns later this year.

Officials To Honor Townsend At Brady Dinner

State officials plan an Appreciation Dinner honoring Townsend ally Terry Townsend in Brady. Ben Barnes will present a plaque at 7:30 p.m. in First Christian Church Fellowship Hall with attendees from Austin including Rep. Nugent and Sen. Crump. Townsend, born February 2, 1935, a Brady attorney and longtime state representative, will be celebrated by local leaders and family.

Lee Kuykendall Dies Retired Fredonia Farmer at 88

Lee Kuykendall 88 of Fredonia died in Brady Hospital after a short illness. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 30 p m in Wilkerson Funeral Chapel with burial in Wagram Cemetery Mason County. He lived in Fredonia 34 years and was born July 28 1876 in Gillespie County. He married Lillie Golf in 1904 at Fredonia. Survivors include his wife three sons Elvin Jess and Victor Kuykendall one daughter Zelma Williams two half sisters and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Appaloosa Show Sees Over 100 Entries Sought

More than 100 entries are expected for the Appaloosa Horse Show at Jubilee Race Track sponsored by the Heart of Texas Riders Association. J. C. Wells manages the event with judging by Milroy Powell of Eden and proceeds aiding the McCulloch County Heart Fund.

Lohn Valley PA Membership To Meet on May 2

The Lohan Valley Protective Association will hold its annual membership meeting on Sunday May 2 at the Cornill Ranch three and a half miles northeast of Lohn. Paul Lohn of Waldrip serves as president with over 160 members. Bill Moseley of Rochelle is secretary and treasurer. Jack Huie of Sohn chairs the entertainment committee and a long list of volunteers assist with the barbecue lunch and events.

Ben Barnes to Address Appreciation Dinner Keynote

Speaker of the House Ben Barnes a close friend of Rep Terry Townsend and a 26 year old who became the youngest speaker since 1870 will keynote the Appreciation Dinner honoring Townsend. Barnes represents the 64th district Brown Runnels Coleman Comanche counties and also appeared in Lubbock. Martha Barnes and two children are mentioned. The legislative session opened with a fast pace reflecting Barnes plans for a busy 140 days.

Rochelle School Honor Roll List Highlights Top Grades

Nazarene Revival Opens at Brady Church Sunday

A revival meeting begins Sunday at the Church of the Nazarene 708 North College Brady with evangelist Rev. J Marvin Harrison of San Antonio. Services run through Sunday May 3 with morning 10 30 and evening 7 30 sessions. Pastor Rev. Lewis B Redwine leads the church.
