Jubilee Parade Float Rework Debuts in San Antonio
The July Jubilee float, tied to Brady McCullough County, gets a refreshed look with red and gold colors and new lighting. Parade chairman C P Rockwell says the float is largely the same but redesigned to feel brand new. Its first official appearance is in the San Pheher Fiesta parade on Saturday night, April 26, with riders Jannette St Clair, Shirley Bratton, and Linda Bush aboard.

C C Honors Clarence Snider For Years of Service to Boys
The Brady Chamber of Commerce awarded its Distinguished Service Award for 1957 to Clarence Snider for guiding and influencing boys over the years. Sister Rahama Willhelm accepted the honor as Snider was absent on another commitment. Hardin Jones praised Snider’s work with scouts, boys, and community service from 1915 onward. Snider’s long association with Brady National Bank and his broad roles in education, Texas and McCulloch County history, and Masonic work were noted. He was born in 1890 in Collin County and moved to Brady with his parents in 1892.

Wire Damages Home in Prady
The home of Mr. and Mrs. L. Mask at 1807 South Walnut Street suffered fire damage about 3:50 am Wednesday. The blaze burned the bathroom and caused heat damage in the hall before Brady firefighters brought it under control. Fire Chief Howard Salter said the cause was not yet determined.

Fire Destroys Ranch House Near Brady
The Loyd residence five miles north of Brady on the Santa Anna highway burned early Sunday with no one home. Brady youths Wilburn Shortleff and Gary Cochran alerted the Fire Department after seeing the blaze. They moved a car from the garage and saved a lawn mower, while the garage was destroyed. The Loyds had left for Brownwood and moved to 912 Calcutta in Brady after planned sale.
