Bradyites Die in Double Car Crash Near Brady

Two Brady residents died in a two car collision on US 87 near the 87 71 intersection when a Cadillac and a Dodge collided. Geneva Lee Evans 34 and Paul Glenn Williams 25 died. Evans in Brady hospital later buried Rest Haven Cemetery. Williams survived initially and was moved to St. John’s Hospital with injuries. Funeral services for Evans and Williams were scheduled at Brady Funeral Home and Wilkerson Memorial Chapel. The crash marked McCulloch County’s second and third traffic fatalities in less than two weeks. The Chamber of Commerce will honor a Distinguished Service Award recipient at an April 14 banquet with Dr. William A Ward as guest speaker.

Brady City Council Sets April 19 Swearing In and Budget Steps

Council canvassed last Saturday's returns and set the April 19 oath ceremony for newly elected members. The body agreed to cooperate with county officials on an alcohol ban at Richards Park under special permit for reunions and meetings, with action awaiting county input. They awarded Brady Lake dock repairs to Mecco Marinas Inc for 4754, and opened bids on Winters Addition Brady Lake lots 17-18 for 1510 each to Deeil Schill. A livestock on 17th Street truck parking ordinance was approved. The council discussed Curtis Field site plans with no action, adopted a Fair Housing resolution, and reviewed labor, rest room repairs, and third year funding salaries in executive session.

They're Off Spring Race Meet at G Rollie White Downs

The July Jubilee Spring Race Meet at G Rollie White Downs runs two weekends with nearly 65 000 in purses. Trials Sunday feature Quarter Horse Futurity and a 40000 purse, while Saturday hosts Thoroughbred Futurity Trials with 35 horses. Finals are April 16 17 with a full card.

Mrs. Emma Bode Dies After Long Illness at 63

Mrs Emma Mae Bode 63 of Brady died at 7 22 am Wednesday in Heart of Texas Memorial Hospital after a long illness Funeral services were held at Wilkerson Memorial Chapel with Rev Lamar Leifeste and burial in Pontotoc Born April 15 1913 at Field Creek she married Wallace Robert Bode July 15 1932 He preceded her in death Survived by two sons Charles W Bode Lewisville and Kenneth J Bode Angleton two brothers Ralph D Underwood Brady and Webster W Underwood Pontotoc two sisters Allie Morgan and Agnes McDaniel Field Creek and five grandchildren
