R. S. Smartt Dies Suddenly at Home
R S Smartt died suddenly at his Route 2 Bellevue home while in a field with his wife and son. A service was held at his home and funeral prayers followed at the Sunset Church of Christ. He was born March 21 1883 in Texas and survived by his wife two sons Quincy Smartt W T Smartt two daughters Elsie Smartt and Mrs M B Spikes and several grandchildren.

Funeral Services For L. P. Dean Held Thursday
Funeral services for L. P. Dean aged 59 were held Thursday at Burgess Chapel with Rev. A. J. Quinn officiating. G. Doc Jackson led the music and Mrs. Coy Perry was pianist. Interment followed at Elmwood Cemetery. Dean died Wednesday at Bowie hospital after a two week illness. He lived in Ringgold and was born in Sunset on July 2, 1880. Survivors include two brothers B. T. Dean Belcherville and H. L. Dean Mt. Park Okla. and two sisters Mrs. Ellen Trambell Oklahoma City and Mrs. Betty Reed Saint Jo.

A severe electrical storm struck Bowie area Saturday night killing a home. The Williams residence near Byrd Hollow was destroyed by fire after a lightning strike. Mr. and Mrs. S L Williams escaped to a storm cellar with only the clothes they wore. The house had housed three sons and two daughters including Roy Williams and S L Williams.

Band Association Program Proves Very Successful
The Cake Walk and a Street dance given here Saturday night under the auspices of the Band Parents Association drew a large crowd and was considered a success. Dr. J. T. Lawson acted as master of ceremonies. Funds realized from the event will be used to purchase needed uniforms for the Band.
