Bowie residents organize post Fourth cleanup drive
Volunteers from downtown Bowie joined a coordinated cleanup last Friday with brooms rakes and trucks. The Chamber of Commerce now plans a comprehensive town cleanup urging vacant lot owners to remove weeds trash and breeding sites for flies and mosquitoes. About forty trucks plus city equipment will be needed for the residential district cleanup days likely after July 4 with details announced soon.

Continental drills stem test shows gas and oil flow near Bowie
Continental conducted a drill stem test on the Walthall No. 1 in the Lewis pool six miles northeast of Bowie. Gas appeared in three minutes and oil flowed in 16 minutes with 2400 lb bottom hole pressure at a depth of 6488 feet. The well is in the S B Hogue survey.
