Construction activities and remodeling efforts reshape Bowie with new houses, cottages, and commercial spaces. Local residents and businesses finance and lead the upturn, while a housing shortage remains a challenge for movers into the town.

Mrs J J Gill of Buffalo Springs was admitted to Bowie Clinic Hospital after the car she rode in collided with another. She suffered a back injury and will be confined to bed for several days, brought to the hospital by her husband.
The M. and L. Drilling Company of Wichita Falls bought Charles Lupton’s interests in the Montague Oil Company block west of Bowie and plans to spud a 4000 foot test soon. The Montague Oil Company No. 1 Brite in section 2882 T Ki L survey was abandoned after a sand showing near 3993 feet, drawing local interest.
Billie T Ditto 22 died at Bowie Clinic Hospital after a short illness. Funeral held at Brushy Church with Rev Edgar L Moody, burial in Brushy Cemetery. Survivors include wife two children parents two brothers and a sister. Contributed obituary note reflects community mourning.
Rev Charles C Klingman returned missionary from Japan led the North Side Prayer Meeting at 3 PM Wednesday in Bowie Texas. He discussed religious life under government influence in Japan and shared experiences from his mission work.
The WPA Canning Plant opened June 8 with 28 workers under supervisor Mrs Mat tie Fenoglio. It has canned 5614 cans in eleven operating days, producing beans beets corn peas and black eyed peas while banning squash cabbage and cucumbers. The project is sponsored by the Bowie Chamber of Commerce the City of Bowie and private donations.
A large crowd attended the Church of Christ service last Sunday evening given by 21 children from the Boles Orphans Home of Greenville. The program included duets quartets and readings.

The talk will feature colored slides and aim to inspire beautification efforts across Bowie with civic cooperation from the Chamber Lions and Rotary. Morrison brings expertise from Fort Worth Botanic Garden and a park development career to offer practical improvement ideas for local parks and beauty spots.
Fort Worth Good Will Trippers halted in Bowie on Friday morning while en route to Electra for a rodeo and celebration. Local Bowie businessmen greeted the delegation.
A pie supper is planned at the Lindale Church house on Wednesday night June 23 to raise funds for sending a 4H Club girl to the short course at A and M College. Proceeds benefit the 4H program and girl participants.
Robert Shaver a senior at North Texas State Teachers College Denton and son of Mr and Mrs C A Shaver Bowie will teach English and History in the high school at Newcastle next year E H Farrington director of the Denton college Placement Office says Shaver will receive the BA degree after the summer session His major was English and minor History and Spanish He participated in Industrial Education Club English Majors Club College Players Student Christian Association West Texas Club football Beta Alpha Rho Beta He also notes Miss Georgia Mae Whitehead visited Bridgeport last week.
