The Lions Club sponsors a community tree at the auditorium this Friday at 7 30 PM. A Christmas tree will be decked with toys and clothing gifts for children, with Old Santa presenting gifts during a arranged program. All members of the public are invited.
A Christmas Vesper service Sunday drew a large, appreciative crowd. Rev. James H. Westbrook delivered the message as Mrs. Willing directed the choir through multiple carols including Angels Serenade and Joy to the World. solos by Mrs. James H. Westbrook and others followed.
Elaborate plans announce the annual Fireman's Ball on December 25 at the Armory. Chuck Collins and his Wichita Falls orchestra will provide music. Proceeds benefit the Fire Department.
Funeral services for 83 year old Mrs. Martha A. Henry were held Sunday at Elmwood Cemetery with Rev. James H. Westbrook officiating. Interment followed under Burgess Funeral Home arrangements. She died at her home north of Bowie on December 16 after 53 years in the county. she is survived by four sons Mace H. Henry Robert M. Henry Virgil A. Henry and John W. Henry and two daughters Mrs. Tom Gallagher and Miss Bessie L. Henry.
A Christmas pagent will be presented at the First Christian Church this evening at 7 30 o clock. Gifts of The Magi tells the Christ child story with readers Mrs L H Simmons and Thurman Parker and Rev M S Peek reading scripture. Mrs Grace Narramore is pianist and the public is invited.
Matty Bell of Dallas addressed Bowie High School football players at a Pelham Park banquet hosted by the Bowie Lions Club. The event honored the football squad with Lions Club awards for excellence in blocking, tackling, and defense and announced regular and reserve lettermen for the season.
The Rotary Club and Rotary Anns held their annual Christmas party at Morrow Grill on December 20. Guests enjoyed decorated halls, gifts from a Christmas tree, musical solos, talks by Ed Gossett and J. C. Kellam, a turkey dinner, and presentations to Mrs. M. L. Morrow, Henry Stephens, and Ella Frances Golden. Attendees included Roy Coffield, Joe Spears, Betty Coffield, and many others from the community.
The Lions Club met at City Auditorium with M. A. Bryan presiding. Guests Otto Faulkner of Long Beach and Hollis Moore of Herrietta attended. Plans for the December 22 Community Christmas Tree party were finalized and tickets arranged. Henry Moore spoke on keeping the U S out of European wars.
Frank Benson manager of the Ritz and Majestic Theatres announced this week that all Ritz and Majestic employees received a Christmas check equal to one week's salary on Wednesday.
Mrs Harry Karlsberg who had been treated at St Pauls hospital in Dallas for a double fracture of her right shoulder returned home Sunday night. She is able to be up and we hope she continues to improve.

Rev. J F Kilman travels home Sunday after visiting brother F M Kilman and Mr and Mrs Claudie Fleming of Paducah. He preached at Missionary Baptist Church and attended a Fellowship meeting at Childress during the two week stay.
