Bowie citizens and visitors may view the combined City and High School Bands parade on Mason street at 7 o clock. The show includes new uniforms, demonstrations of formations and marching, and a program of marches and swing numbers directed by George Rucker with parking restricted 7 to 8 o clock.
Bowie will host boxing matches Tuesday December 21 at 7 30 pm sponsored by the Bowie chapter of the Future Farmers of America to raise funds for a father and son banquet. Mayor Fred M. Paire will officiate as referee with ten cent admission.
Mrs Nannie Edwards of Buffalo Springs died at her home early Tuesday. Funeral services were held that afternoon at Blue Grove for the Texas pioneer born March 7, 1880. Interment followed in Blue Grove Cemetery. Survivors include her husband W Edwards, two daughters and one son.
Mr and Mrs M Q O Roberson and daughter Betty Jo travel Monday to Vernon for a two week stay. Mr Roberson works with the State Highway Department in Vernon.

The Bowie Quartet and contributors performed Sunday afternoon at Newport with numbers by the quartet and solos by G. Doc Jackson Ike Parks Henry Parks and Ben Harris Miss Mabel Jackson sang Farther Along Miss Mary Coe played piano Attendees from Bowie included Mrs L R Duncan Mrs Amos McGregory Mrs H Sonner Miss Opal Jackson and Mrs Huff Cloer.
The Ritz Theatre will host a benefit show Tuesday December 21 with half the proceeds aiding the Lions Club Community Christmas tree fund. Manager Frank Benson selected the film Night Club Scandal about a murder plot in a nightclub.
Announcement from Bowie reports the December 16 marriage of Miss Carolyn Crisp of Austin to Frank Alois Walter of San Antonio. After a private San Antonio service the couple had a breakfast hosted by the groom’s sister, then left for a trip to Mexico City. They will reside in San Antonio after February 1.
W G Simpson of Mongue signified his intention to enter the race for Sheriff of Montague county and will file early next year. He currently operates a dairy farm at Montague.
Local residents hosted guests from nearby towns over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Bateman entertained the Ratliffs of Montague on Sunday afternoon. The Wells from Henrietta visited the Barkers, and Clarence Southerland stayed with Kemp Denison in Stoneburg. Ervin Drury of Wichita Falls spent midweek with relatives here, while Mrs. C. J. Dodsworth and the Fraleys enjoyed Saturday in Fort Worth.
Notice that the block on Mason street between Tarrant and Wise streets will be closed to traffic and parking Friday from 7 until 8 p.m. for a joint Beed Band and Been Band performance.
A Christmas Vesper service will be given at the First Methodist Church Sverday afternoon at 5 o'clock. Mrs J Lee Hanchey directs the program with Mrs R L Marshall in charge of the ros trem arrangement. The choir opens with Hark The Herald Angels Sing, followed by a prayer by Rev B B Breitenhirt.
A Christmas pageant titled The Light Shineth in Darkness will be presented by the First Presbyterian Church choir on Sunday night December 19 at 7 30 directed by Miss Lometa McAfee and Mrs B B Breitenhirt It has been the churchs custom to stage a Christmas play on the Sunday before Christmas
The church hosts a Christmas pageant depicting the coming of Christ through story and song with Old and New Testament readings. A Christmas service follows Sunday at 7 30 featuring a song sermon. A mixed quartet and Bow ie Quartet perform selections including Silent Night and Glory to God.
D. M. Major spoke at the Lions Club meeting on Ideas and business life. Committee heads were Glenn Trout R C Cady and B F Taylor. New members G B Mack and George C Cassells welcomed. Visitors Castleberry Amarillo and Karl Hachtel attended. Community tree planned for Dec 28 at the City Auditorium. Donations from organizations and individuals incoming. Coffee and cookies served to 49 members.
The County Agent’s office lists the results of community meetings selecting 1938 Agricultural Conservation Committee members. G. E. Blackmon of Bowie is chairman with C. C. Howard of Nocona as vice chair, Donald Prater of Stoneburg, and S. W. Lough of Saint Jo named as alternates. The elected officials will oversee the county program starting in 1938.
A department of commerce colosite report shows 5880 bales of cotton ginned in Montague County from Ceetee Wen Dee prior to December 1986. The data reflects an increase of 1960 bales in the county’s cotton output.
E. C. Jameson county agricultural agent spoke on the Cotton Control Situation at the Rotary Club lunch. Rev George F Kornegay gave the invocation and Miss Melba Culp played piano as Barney Whitehead led a Rotary song session. Plans were made for the Christmas party at Morrow's Grill Room next Wednesday. T B Coffield heads the program committee and J Lee Hanchey the arrangements. attendance reached 100 percent.

Thirty two participants completed the Red Cross First Aid course directed by R O Plummer and passed the Thursday night exam. They will receive certificates from National Headquarters. The course covered ten two hour lessons.
Bad weather kept many Bowie residents from the City Auditorium program by the Fort Worth Fire Department led by Battalion Chief J M OBrien. The First Aid and Drill team directed by H C Garrison demonstrated first aid and invited questions. The event, sponsored by the Bowie Volunteer Fire Department, concluded with a post program feed at the Fire Hall.

About forty of fifty men attended from Olney Archer City Seymour Burkburnett Henrietta Bowie and Wichita Falls with the president of the School of Mines in El Paso as principal speaker.
Mrs. Peral Southerland and daughters Lois Manola Peraline and June Ann visit her parents Mr and Mrs Lindsey in Sunset. Mr Lindsey serves as pastor of Sunset Methodist Church.
Lions Club and local clubs plan holiday donations at Bowie City Auditorium on December 23 to help about 200 children 12 years old or younger with clothing toys and food. Old Santa will visit, and George Rucker leads the program committee.

Wright of Aquilla, brother of Dr. E W Wright, was admitted to the Hospital Tuesday. J T Ashton returned home in Montague after improving at the Hospital. B E Copeland of Shannon, ill at the Hospital since Nov 23, returned home Sunday but was readmitted Tuesday. Mrs W W Bail is improving at the Hospital where she was admitted Sunday night after illness at home. Dr E W Wright brought home a nine point deer and a wild goose from a hunting trip in South Texas. Lizzie Mae Shoemaker returned home after a week with her niece Floyce Chandler of Corpus Christi.
Publi city Committee Chamber of Commerce and local officials toast securing the Bowie to Montague right of way at Morrow's Grill Room with a turkey banquet. Deeds delivered and payments to landholders proceeding. state let for grading and structures expected in March with pavement to follow.
S W Montague Singers are urged to attend an all day Southwest Montague County singing convention Sunday December 19 at Leona. Doc Jackson presides at 10 30 a m opening with the opening song. Morning features quartet numbers and class songs directed by multiple leaders. Afternoon includes quartets from Bowie Electra Olney Wichita Falls and Nocona with additional class songs led by a large list of conductors. Public invited to join and enjoy Gospel singing.
Miss Geree Higgs and Miss Eva Hodges of Crafton stayed with Miss Hazel Donald during a weekend visit. Higgs extended her stay for a longer visit.
