Mrs Laura E Sanders Buried Tuesday

Funeral services for Mrs Laura Elizabeth Jones Sanders a Texas native and Montague county pioneer were held at 3 p m Tuesday at the home of her granddaughter Mrs G Doc Jackson. The Rev A C Turner pastor of the First Baptist Church officiated. Burial was in Elmwood cemetery beside her husband who died in 1922. She died Monday at her home aged 85. She was born February 21 1855 near Bonham daughter of Calvin and ______ Jones. She married J L Sanders in 1870 and lived in Clay county before moving to Montague county. She is survived by one son Ben B Sanders Bowie nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Montague county pioneer W B Winder dies in Bowie

W B Winder 78 a Montague county pioneer died Monday morning in a Bowie hospital from pneumonia after a week of illness. He came to Texas with his parents from South Carolina in 1878 and lived on farms near Queenspeak Stoneburg and later near Stoneburg. Survivors include four daughters and two sons, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Funeral at Burgess Funeral Home chapel at 1 30 PM with Rev Pete Jarrell officiating. Interment Elmwood Cemetery beside his wife.

Nocona 60. Crowds were small Saturday due to extreme cold.

Pierce Chandler Fills High School Mathematics Vacancy

Pierce L. Chandler began work as mathematics instructor at the Bowie high school. He replaces Harmon Covington who left to teach Algebra at McLean Junior High in Fort Worth. Chandler, son of I. L. and Mrs. Chandler, is a Bowie native and Bowie High School graduate with an I. S. degree from S.M. He previously taught at Thalia High School and Montague.

Texas Cotton Ginners to Hold 27th Annual Meet in Fort Worth

Fort Worth reports indicate the Texas Cotton Ginners Association will stage its 27th annual convention from March 31 to April 2. W B Brown, chairman of the Manufacturers and Supply Mers Committee, said attendance could be the largest yet with exhibits and an elaborate program including luncheons, a dance, and vaudeville. Officers named are H G Yakey president Aubrey L Lockett vice president and John C Thompson executive secretary.

Ripple Announces Candidacy for Bowie Ward 3 Alderman

W M Ripple announces his bid for City Council as Alderman from Bowie third ward in the April 7 election. Ripple is manager of the Famous department store and serves as Bowie Independent School District trustee, Chamber of Commerce director, former Bowie Fair Board director, Rotary Club member, and active in civic business affairs.

Curtain Club Presents Iv w Three One Act Plays

The Bowie Curtain Club staged three one act plays Tuesday night at the city auditorium. Proceeds benefited the local Junior class. Productions included Highness directed by Mrs. David Warren with a cast led by T. B. Cotfield Henry Moore and Mrs. Cecilia Allen. The Spirit of the Thing directed by Mrs. E M. Stallings featured Mrs. E B Wright Bailey Taylor and Henry Moore. The Fatal Necklace directed by Mrs C S Henderson included Mrs. L L Waid and F. O Edwards.

Birth of Son Robert Lynn in Henrietta

Mr and Mrs Robert White welcomed an eight and a quarter pound son named Robert Lynn Monday at their home in Henrietta. The family formerly lived in Bowie and the child is the grandson of several relatives.
