Texas Relief Commission reports an unencumbered 1.5 million dollars to aid unemployables through March. Director Adam R. Johnson says funds will subsist about 36,000 cases or 180,000 individuals as the program closes after eliminating all employables beginning January 1.
New York date shows three year total of 3,186,000 from nationwide birthday dances dedicated to the President. In 1934 the Georgia Warm Springs Foundation received 1,015,000 for infantile paralysis care, while last year 1,071,000 was raised and 70 percent stayed in local communities.
The Bowie and community amateur radio program held Jan 80th at the City Auditorium in observance of the president's birthday and for the benefit of crippled children netted about 45 dollars. W. F. Robinson announced the split of funds with half staying for local children and half sent to the national committee. Weather limited attendance but a good crowd was still present.
The Nocona city hall was burglarized earlier this week an attempt was made to rob the city safe. The thief tried to knock off safe knobs damaging the combination and door. No suspect is named and only a small amount of change remained inside.

Weather forced postponement of the Woodmen initiation last Friday. Tonight 20 candidates will be admitted with visiting camps from Wichita Falls and Olney joining a street parade led by the local band and a Wichita Falls band. E L Mann will oversee the initiation followed by a social hour indoors.
Governor Allred revokes past citizenship loss for Hugh Jarrott of Bowie after 25 years since Jarrott aided a boy in Bowie who became governor. Jarrott, a former saloon keeper, was convicted under old liquor laws now repealed. A Bowie delegation attended the ceremony.
Rev A C Turner of First Baptist will preach at Pleasant Ridge Church Sunday afternoon at 2 30 oclock. T R Willingham, host pastor, invites the public to attend the service.
A correction notes that Mrs Anna Thweatt Billbro was the mother of Mrs H S Walker, not her sister as previously reported. The error arose from typesetting, and the newspaper expresses regret for the mistake.
Pat Bullock longtime director of Adult Education in Texas announces his bid for State Superintendent of Public Instruction, exiting retirement to seek the office under the Federal Government connection.
Jesse Elliott announces candidacy for Alderman of Bowie East Ward No. 2 in the city election on April 7 1936. He is a Bowie businessman and Swift & Company salesman, and serves on the school board. He solicits votes and influence.
A Democratic Party notice states that the names of certain candidates are authorized for publication subject to the July 25 1986 primary process. The announcement indicates official action pending from party authorities.
The notice lists candidate names for city offices in the April 7 1936 election. For Alderman East Ward No 2 the contenders are shown in the public notice.
Thelma Williams of Los Angeles obtained a peace bond against her husband after he let air from her tire and annoyed her by telephone while threatening to kill her.
The old age assistance commission moved toward completing a local setup for administration of Texas old age pension act effective the 14th. First pension payments will be made by July 1. Orville S. Carpenter said supervisors for 18 of 20 districts were selected and eight headquarters cities chosen. Floyd E. Martin was named supervisor of District 7 which includes Montague County. no headquarters city selected for that district.
Vera Hermith Kersey aged 12, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F M Kersey, died Friday January 31 after a lingering illness. Funeral services were held Saturday at 2:30 at EK W Whitley Funeral Home with Rev O P Riker of the First Methodist church. Burial followed in Elmwood Cemetery. Survived by parents two sisters Mrs Alton McNatt Hazel Kersey and one brother Elmer Lee Kersey.
Mrs James Gilchrist of PocaHontas Iowa explains her large family has reached sixteen mumps cases as her eldest James Jr. at eighteen has yet to show symptoms. She fears the illness may continue to spread among her children.
New York reports veterans urged to mail bonus applications with a three cent stamp as envelopes marked two cents will be returned for insufficient postage. The instruction area on the envelopes caused the issue since they were printed before the postage increase.

Rasco to present applications to the state school board at its February 10 meeting in Austin.
Mrs Ella Curlin 66 mother of Nocona Mayor Ernest Curlin died suddenly of heart failure at her home Saturday night in Nocona Texas Her daughter Mrs Cloria Caviness also survives Funeral services were held Monday.
The Baptist Women’s Missionary Society will sponsor a valentine tea cake shower for the Buckner Orphan’s Home during the season. Three barrels of tea cakes are expected to be sent from Bowie. Anyone wishing to contribute should contact Mrs. George W. Curlee, president of the society. Contributions are appreciated.
The North Ward P.T.A. will present a negro minestral at the city auditorium on Friday evening February 14. A Woman Wedding and other amateur performances are planned. The arrangement committee includes Mrs. J. C. Reasoner, Mrs. H. M. Somers, Mrs. R. D. Young, Mrs. R. E. Fraley, and Mrs. Ed Malone. The public is invited to attend.
