Thirty members of the Beth Israel Synagogue of Malden were seriously injured yesterday afternoon when a mob of 75 hoodlums attacked them as they prayed for the Jewish new year. Two victims were unconscious, others received on-site medical care.

General Samuel Crocker Lawrence longtime Boston & Maine director and Civil War veteran died at his Medford home on Rural avenue shortly after 7 pm at age 78 years 10 months. Medford fire bells tolled for half an hour to mark the loss of a major city benefactor and public-spirited figure.
