Frank H. Miller a 23 year old Toledo aviator was forced aloft by taunting crowds at the Miami County Fair near Troy Ohio. At about 200 feet the man crashed and was burned to death as spectators watched.
Miller attempted a spiral glide from a race track into a corn field when the propellers stalled. The aircraft dropped, a blue flame appeared, and the gasoline tank exploded, wrecking the craft and burning the driver. It was his second flight of the day and fifth of the week amid jeers from spectators.
Sixteen men faced death as flames enveloped the fishing schooner Mary B. Greer. The Deer Island steamer Monitor arrived with two lines of hose and extinguished the fire in the harbor yesterday afternoon.
The crew panicked as a blaze erupted in the forecastle of a schooner bound for Gloucester from the wharf with prisoners. Monitor and Er. W. Edwards aided with hoses. Fifteen minutes later the fire was extinguished, confined to the forecastle and adjacent areas, with the ship able to proceed.

Panic erupts at Immaculate Conception School as a wild dog chased pupils in the girls building. Four pupils and a teacher bitten, two students injured in a stairway fall at 10:40 AM. The dog was captured by Officer Abraham Neville and found not mad, only frightened.
A stray mad dog injured two girls aged 11 and 10 in a Medford schoolyard fall down stairs and bit several others, including a nun. Teachers and pupils were unhurt enough to return to class as Officer Neville secured the animal and took it to the police station after no owner was found.
A one year old boy named James G. O'Donnell of 159 Boston Street Dorchester was run over and killed on tracks in front of his home at about 6 30 last night. He stood still after hearing shouts from playmates as the car approached. Motorman John Doyle halted the vehicle five feet after it crushed the boy's skull and was arrested but released after witnesses testified he had the car under control.
The Ancient and Honorable Artillery company will hold a field day and muster on Col. Benton’s grounds in Watertown next Monday. It is the first such event in a century with over 4000 expected from across the country. Gov Foss, his staff, and local officials have been invited. many military and civic groups will send reps.
