Charles Illuminated By Waltham and Newton

The illuminated river carnival in Waltham and Newton drew thousands on a cool delightful evening. Buildings and grounds along the Charles river glowed with lights as torches lined the northern banks from Moody street to the foot bridge. A two division flotilla led by the White Swan and Elcho carried the American Watch company band and reporters. A cannon near Fitchburg depot started the procession with five salutes. The boats reached Islington Point near ex Mayor Pulsifer Newton at about 9 pm where a reception was held. Fireworks along the Waltham riverfront closed the night. Officials hope for annual repeats in both cities.

Tow boy George Turner injured after horse bite incident
