Gardner defeats Benton by 4700 as Barry wins by 6000 carrying Gardner to a Boston victory in light vote areas. Essex County turnout helps Barry and Gardner with strong city results and outside-Boston support.
Mrs Clarence H Mackay, wife of Postal Telegraph president, faces a $1,000,000 alienation suit filed by Mrs Joseph A Blake. The action centers on damages to the plaintiff’s marriage, with both sides seeking privacy amid public attention. The couple reportedly traveled to Europe with their children before delaying proceedings in New York.
Mrs Mackay, aged about 85, scooped by her husband’s sudden departure to Europe with their three children last June. Papers in an alienation suit were served amid grave charges, while no divorce action has been filed and the Blakes and Mackays had long been friends with a waning married bond and separate travels.
Frederick J. Macleod, chairman of the Public Service Commission, was paid sums noted in the general expenditures report of the New Haven railroad for 1912 to 1913, filed with the commission. Continued on Page 4-Fifth Column.

Concord New Hampshire September 23 William Travers Jerome, foe of Harry Kendall Thaw, delivered a fiery address at the hearing on Thaw’s extradition to New York before Governor Felker. He announced a secret indictment by the New York grand jury, delivering a sharp blow to Thaw’s defense as the case nears resolution.
Patrick A. Ford, founder and editor of the Irish World for 43 years, died in Brooklyn at age 60 after a four day pneumonia illness. He shaped Irish nationalist politics in the United States and was noted for his anti English rule stance and influence in key elections. He previously led the Boston Sunday Times, served in the Ninth Massachusetts during the Civil War, and founded the Charleston Gazette before launching the Irish World in New York.
Jerome states the grand jury paused further investigations until his return to present evidence on the instigator behind the Thaw escape plot. The probe targets a higher up figure connected to the incident.
A basement storeroom fire at the Chicago Inter-Ocean destroyed a quantity of print paper and ink. The flames were confined to that room, causing damage but no reports of injuries.
