Century Cyclists Break Records in Long Ride Events
Boston area cyclists set multiple records as the Century Road Club and local clubs staged a double century 200 miles plus single centuries and a 150 mile triangular run. Riders from Lowell Boston and surrounding cities competed to firm up top times while Arch ie McIntire rode a triple century. The Lowell contingent joined the main group at Newburyport and the Spindle City Wheelmen of Lowell won the silver loving cup at Newburyport checking stations.

W L Hood of the Unity Cycle Club lowered the Boston Providence Worcester line to 19 hours 27 minutes in the open 146 mile run paced by three tandems. Hood finished tired but uninjured. The Northern Cycle Club completed a half century ride in Boston yesterday, with riders from Acton and South Framingham among those shutting shops after the feast. A bugler was arrested in Concord for bugling and posted bail with a bill. the list of survivors includes Captain J. H. Becker and numerous other named riders.

George D Vys Dies Sole Survivor Of Kane Rescue
George D Vys former Arctic expedition survivor and veteran of the Vincennes service with Admiral Porter died at Worcester Hospital after sustaining injuries from a fall and long illness. He was 68. Born in Baltimore he commanded a ship at 21 and later wrote and illustrated for Harper's after Arctic service. He served in the Civil War, was praised as a hero, and will be interred at Cedar Grove Cemetery following a Dalghren Post 2 service in South Boston.
