Colonel L K Fuller of Brattleboro gave 10000 and Mr Sturtevant of Boston 5000 to the Vermont Academy at Saxton s River with a condition of an equal raise for a new building. Trustees report securing all but 700, likely at the annual meeting. Other gifts include 5000 from Joel Proctor and 1000 from Frederick Billings. The academy now has five brick buildings and about 200000 worth of property in use.
