In a major engagement at Siniloan Laguna Province on Sept 16 American forces from the Fifteenth and Thirty-seventh Infantry regiments suffered heavy losses. Ninety year men and officers died of wounds, 130 casualties in Mitchells command, while insurgent losses are believed heavy. MacArthur reports describe a desperate three hour fight amid high water and flooded terrain.

Rescue of Maggie Sullivan crew men reported in gale
Eight missing men from the Maggie Sullivan were rescued from the Mary A Whalen crew. Boston fishermen Patrick Pinder John Burns Michael Foley and Charles Johnson were saved after the Tuesday gale. The eighteen from the Maggie Sullivan were later picked up by Captain James Carney aboard the Julia Costa and brought to Boston. The storm, described by crews as one of the year’s severest, prompted the rescue operation and returns to port.
