Milk Prices Rise In October Across Hood Brands

Hood's Jersey Red Seal and farm milks will cost more per quart and per pint starting Oct 1 1916. Modified milk for children remains 20 cents per quart, with a small bottle feeding rate. Hood explains higher costs from feed, labor, machinery, transportation, and glassware, and says prices to farmers and railroads will increase to cover these. The company notes no profit for consumers at current rates and cites Interstate Commerce Commission changes in transportation as a factor.
