Daniel J. Carney Dies at 66 in Dorchester

Daniel J. Carney formerly of Bent & Bush Company and active in military and Catholic social circles, died yesterday at 29 Robinhood Street Dorchester aged 66. Survived by widow two sons and a daughter. Regular cooking features upcoming in The Post.

In New Bedford, about 500 mill workers and supporters packed the aldermanic chamber for a Legislature special committee hearing on the child labor bill. Most speakers opposed the law, citing financial strain on families and claims of workers needing children to help earn wages.

Soprano Geraldine Farrar Recalls Milan Riot Ordeal

Miss Farrar, returning from Europe aboard the Kaiser Wilhelm II, described a Milan labor riot in July where bricks and revolver fire damaged her car and struck her. Absent soldiers, she and her mother sought help from brigands who later guided them to a country hotel. She denies engagements to European royalty or Antonio Scotti.
