Walker Wins the Day at Worcester Republican Convention

The Worcester tenth district Republican convention at Continental Hall nominated Hon. Joseph H. Walker of Worcester for Congress after a heated contest with Theodore C. Bates and Frank P. Goulding among others. Balloting showed Walker leading Goulding, with 54 votes to Goulding’s 52 on the formal ballot, and 55 to 51 on another tally. The gathering adjourned after a push to make the nomination unanimous failed, amid lively speeches and factional maneuvering.
