Quarantine Practices and Yellow Fever Notes at Boston Harbor
Inspectors Cogswell and Dr. Shay rigorously examine arriving vessels before any person or article disembarks. Suspected cases are isolated and treated, ships disinfected, and quarantine kept until no contagion remains. Yellow fever records show only three historical footholds, with current watchfulness and daily health reports maintaining safety.

Patchwork Interstate Commerce Bill Passes House
Washington Sept 13 The House approved a revised interstate commerce bill with changes from the Senate and added duties for the commission. A notable amendment by General Grosvenor would restrict petroleum shipments in tank cars to wooden packages, a move seen as anti monopoly but unlikely Senate support. Senator Cullom plans non-concurrence and a conference, while leaders warn some amendments could threaten passage. The bill's effective date remains debated with the China treaty condition and a vote on Blair's reconsideration set for tomorrow.
