He did not cry out as blood flowed, and a Post reporter helped him into a taxicab to Haymarket square relief station. The wound over an inch deep is not serious and he stayed in the hospital overnight.
In the American League Cleveland fell to New York 6 to 3 after a close 3 to 2 second game. Philadelphia beat Detroit 6 to 5. Chicago and Washington games were affected by rain. In the National League New York defeated Chicago 7 to 1 while Philadelphia topped Cincinnati 6 to 2. Brooklyn beat Louisa 11 to 8. Boston and Pittsburgh games were rain delayed.
John Reed 23 of Belmont and Thomas H Gannock 23 of Cambridge both volunteer policemen on patrol were held up in Columbus Avenue early today. Their badges and revolvers were taken by several men from an automobile. Later Sergeant McDonald arrested Arthur D Shea who faced a 38 calibre revolver and was held for investigation.
