Union labor plans a major Boston parade with more than 8000 marchers expected along city streets. The event includes a dozen or more field days and activities promoting labor unity and civic participation.
Mansfield news item notes Mrs Marguerite P Connor earned a Ford car through a prize story titled Reunited by Radio. Her husband had agreed to buy her a car only if she produced a daughter, and the couple celebrated as the prize provided the vehicle.
John Buffer age 40 of Woonsocket Rhode Island fell from an outing truck at Nantasket rolling beneath a rear wheel. The truck carried 45 people and was driven by Alfred Jolly of Woonsocket. Buffer’s mother was aboard the trip.
Thousands of residents and visitors were thrown into chaos between 8 and 9 p.m. when Nantasket’s electric lighting system failed. Car headlamps and a passing storm’s lightning provided the only illumination amid the districtwide blackout.
A widespread outage at Paragon Park disrupted roller coasters hotels and restaurants leaving patrons in darkness for about thirty minutes. Roller cars halted under dim coal mine like conditions while steamboat and police officials assisted guiding crowds along the wharf approaches as boat lanterns were used until power returned.

Scanlon sustained a deep flesh wound from a metal fragment. both women received first aid and were sent to Lynn Hospital before returning home.
Representative Mias W. Chase of 15 Euclid Avenue Lynn died suddenly yesterday at his Conway New Hampshire summer home. Relatives received scant details. He is survived by a widow and his brother Chief Edward E. Chase of the Lynn Fire Department. He was found dead in his barn as if struck by a fall from the haymow.
Solomon Levine of 68 Linwood Street Malden was twice entered on the blotter within 30 minutes yesterday but proved innocent. After a neighbor disarmed Mrs Etta Robinson who fired a pistol at Levine the police arrived to find a man named Werlinski of New York exhausted from hunger and seeking work.
Irving Smith shines in Park Department championships winning the 100 yards in 11 seconds flat at Franklin Field. In New York Cedarhurst, Molla Mallory defeats Helen Wills 3-6 6-1 6-5 in the Rockaway Hunting Club tennis final and Wills with Leslie Bancroft beat Mallory and Walsh 6-1 7-5. President William D. Mahon of the Amalgamated Association denounces the carmen strike on the Boston and Worcester Street Railway as outlaw. He condemns the action and calls for restraint and negotiations to end the dispute.
New Bedford on September 3 reports seven motor vehicle crashes with one death and a critical injury. George Holcroft of Parkman Grove died after being struck by a car driven by Joseph Lehner at Acushnet Avenue and Ashley Boulevard. Manuel Gonzales, South Dartmouth, in critical condition after a wagon carrying seven people was struck by Edmund Hersey’s car on the New Bedford highway. Police seized names of 150 violators on the Faÿ River highway with 18 more on the old Fall River road. all are to be called into court.
An automobile rolled over the cliff near Niagara Falls and fell 200 feet to the river margin. Mrs. Agatha Miller, 54, of Cleveland, wife of D. H. Miller, was killed in the crash and found at the water's edge.
Mrs Miller was alone in a car parked on the grass near the customs office at the American end of the bridge just north of the upper steel arch bridge. The vehicle faced the river when the 1:50 PM accident occurred.
Miss Mabel Battey, 17, daughter of Hartford merchant William R. Battey, died at Lawrence Memorial Hospital from a skull fracture after being thrown from a motorcycle side car when it struck a dog crossing the road. Driver Theodore Gasinsky of Hartford survived unharmed.
A Dover man named Charles who began his swim in Dover after an eleven hour ten minute journey was pulled from the water a short time before six o'clock. News notes indicate the effort involved Sam Richards Collag and Sullivan of All Ready to His Swim.
In Jackson California authorities report progress toward rescue of 47 men trapped since the previous shift in the Argonaut mine. Work continues to reach the entombed crew at the 6 foot level as green stone and virgin ground slow the tunnel excavation and a full week of labor is anticipated to reach the entombed men.
