The Tremont Theatre Opens With Varied Stage Pictures

The Tremont Theatre presented a night of varied drama and opera. The crowd enjoyed the melodrama The Mascot with lavish scenery and a London style performance. The Tremont opened with DeKoven and Smith’s The Tzigane featuring Miss Lillian Russell in a sumptuous Russian setting. The WIdow Jones by John J. McNally followed with Miss Irwin in a bright comedy musical at the Boston Museum.

Globe Trotter opens at Hollis Street Theatre with Hoey

Yesterday two performances launched the fall and winter season at Hollis Street Theatre featuring Louis de Louys three act comedy The Globe Trotter starring Bill Hoey. The review praises ensemble strength and Boucicault and Miss Ada Alexandra for strong supporting turns while noting Hoey’s limited stage dominance and moments of restraint. The Globe Trotter runs this week only with the D Arville company to follow on Sept 9.

Carnival of Venice Fireworks Dazzle Huntington Fans

Last night’s display at the Carnival of Venice on Huntington Avenue wowed a several thousand crowd. Pain’s double programme included ballet, music, acrobatics and spectacular features with Zimmerman on a thirty foot wheel and L A W emblem pieces. The season ends with another strong program and the L A W members receive half price admission at the crowd stand.

Park Theatre Hosts Fagan Minstrelsy Show Second Week

The Park Theatre presented Barney Fagan and company in a vaudeville and burlesque program for the second and last week of the engagement. Favorites from the prior week remained including the Ice Knights Templars match and electric minstrel effects. New material received hearty applause at matinee and evening shows with a fresh song titled A Hot Memportland featured.

Black America engages audiences at Southern Exposition

The matinees and evening shows drew about four hundred participants and audiences. The cake walk excited crowds as two final performances today and two tomorrow wrap up the Southern exposition of negro life at Huntington Avenue. Nate Salsbury, the producer, has received praise and calls for a Boston return.

Holiday theatergoers enjoyed a rich vaudeville program at Keith's New Theatre yesterday afternoon and evening. Old Rube the python at Austin & Stone Museum draws crowds

The 31 foot giant python named Old Rube was placed on exhibit in thelecture hall at Austin & Stone's Museum, drawing over 10 000 visitors who watched Mile Beatrice Rodefigo enter the cage. The Howard Atheneum crowds all day from morning to night with continuous shows. From gates opening to closing hour audiences enjoyed a two hall program featuring five young ladies as the main act in hall 1 with Weinefeld and Mme Lamont among others. Hall 8 showcased Lees with a knife and battleaxe act and Franks broom exhibit while the stage offered a rotating cast including Learys Wilson Raymond and Spencer. Labor Day show thrills crowd at Hanover Street Theatre

A large crowd attended the Hanover Street Theatre on Labor Day for a bill of local interest. Billy Kelly led a minstrel scene followed by the Croley and Foley Irish team and May Frances Lacy. The Imperial Quartet performed Watch on the Cliff written for Hagan, Eddie Clark starred in Bowery Girl, and Noyes and Moya presented a humorous one act piece.

Hackenburger Wins 25-Mile Race Setting World Record

Hackenburger, an unattached wheelman, won the twenty five mile road race in Denver establishing a world record with a time of 1 hour 4 minutes 47 seconds. He led 126 entrants two miles from the finish as an immense crowd witnessed the event. Wall Day was celebrated with a hour long procession and special trains brought 2 000 people to Denver for the celebration.

Suspended riders barred from Governor's Foot Guard races

In New Haven on September 3, C ca banné and Titus, suspended Class B riders, could not start in the Governors Foot Guard races. They rode a mile exhibition for a special prize. Trainer Joseph Goodman defended them, saying the charges are untrue and that a LAW edict will be removed within a week. Murphy has ridden better than Titus or Cabanne this season.

The Gold King at Grand Museum Shines In Night Exhibit

At the Grand Museum corner Washington and Dover streets yesterday the venue was sold out with full seats and limited standing room. The production titled The Gold King starred Leighton in the leading role and featured a dramatic plot with elements of assassination and escape in a night view.
