Harvard Practises Ahead of Princeton Yale Games

Harvard practised yesterday with no risk taken for the Princeton and Yale games. Pennock may be substituted at game start while Yosts Western team trained at Cambridge and showed heavy form. Haughton met Yost at Soldiers Field as captains Brickley and Raynsford led their squads. Splawn excelled in punting amid stadium air currents at practice.

It became generally known yesterday that the banking syndicate had agreed to take New Haven's 6 per cent notes but decided not to exercise their option. This leaves New Haven facing a severe financial problem as the city’s finances remain unsettled.

Bay State Street Railway to Arbitrate Wage Increase

The Bay State Street Railway Company will enter arbitration with its employees to settle a wage dispute. An Arbitration board will have one member from each side and a third mutually agreed. This follows a rejection by workers of the company offer, the vote reported as 3347 to 15 by the joint conference board.

Platform Workers Bargain Offers Raise Wages Proposed

The company proposes a half cent an hour hike for platform men in year one and another half cent in year two with a seven year path to top pay and five extra daily hours guaranteed. Workers seek 30 to 35.5 cents an hour with top rate at year one. Current contract ends Oct 1 with seven year top at 28 cents and 24.5 cents base.

Chauffeur Attacks Worcester Banker at Dinner

Daniel J. Murphy, a driver, attacked Richard Healey, banker and president of the Healey Cloak Co., at the Healey home in Worcester. Mrs Healey restrained Murphy and saved her husband as two dinner guests watched, ending the fatal threat.

Servant Raises Alarm as Man Arrested for Dinner Room Threat

A servant alerted police and Murphy was arrested after entering the Healey home at 188 Institute Road during dinner last night. He bought an 82 caliber revolver and is charged with assault with intent to kill. Murphy, fired as Healey's chauffeur for lax duty, will be arraigned in the Central District Court tomorrow morning.

Roosevelt warns two empires plan to hold American ports

Colonel Theodore Roosevelt told Princeton students he had seen plans by two empires in the European war to seize great American sea ports and hold them for ransom. He urged the nation to strengthen its defenses to defend its rights if invaded. He warned that the standing army is too weak to deter such actions.

Hearing on the pheasant question in Massachusetts
