Lieutenant General Adna R. Chaffee retired former chief of staff of the U S Army died at his Los Angeles home of typhoid pneumonia. His body will be taken to Washington for interment at Arlington National Cemetery. He later led the Los Angeles water board and then headed an insurance company before retiring from business.
