Directions for making soap based on Ivory Soap

To one pint of boiling water add one and one-half ounces of Ivory Soap cut into shavings. Boil five minutes after the soap is dissolved. Remove from heat and cool in convenient dishes not made of tin. It will keep in a wet airtight glass jar. Procter Gamble Co. Cincinnati 1806.

Bryan Attacks McKinley Again at Riverton Speech

W J Bryan told Nebraska Republicans in Riverton that if he had been elected president and tried to conquer the Philippines he would be denounced as a traitor to the Constitution. He warned that the republic could sink to eastern empire levels if the party aided the repeal of the Declaration of Independence.

Fire Destroys Canal Street Block Killing Twelve Horses

In Philadelphia on October 29 a massive fire swept the block bounded by Canal and Second streets and Germantown avenue. Wunderlich Bros. warehouse and the Chicago Merchandise Company storage building suffered major losses totaling about 50,000 for the structures and contents. Davis Bros. railroad spike works were wiped out with a $100,000 loss. Twelve Wunderlich horses perished. adjacent businesses including Schleyer’s butcher shop Kroborn & Sons tobacconists William Cooper barrels and W J Graham grocer suffered several thousand dollars in damage. The total property loss neared 155,000 with partial insurance on the main fire.

Burial of Watson A. Dakin at Roxbury church

Funeral services for Watson A. Dakin who died in Lincoln Nebraska were held at Roxbury Presbyterian Church attended by colleagues from Jones McDuffee Stratton Young Men's League Bethany Baptist Sunday school and local businesses. The burial took place at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Postmaster Wendell Jones moved to new quarters at 1436 Dorchester Avenue with improved facilities and twenty four mail boxes.
