City Hall committee on West End railways elects Hart chairman

The West End railroad committee met at City Hall and elected Alderman Hart as chairman. It authorized consulting with the street superintendent on cost to punct street extensions, and with assessors on probable two year property value increases, plus Brookline selectmen on Brookline’s plans. Adjourned to Nov 4 at 1 pm. Chapter 95 of 1871 allows widening Beacon street, Brighton avenue, and Brookline avenue with city payment for land. Mayor O Brien says the committee cannot act. only street commissioners may proceed, making any report by the committee inoperative.
