Fire at East Taunton destroyed $150000 of property owned by the Old Colony Iron Works Company in a single 440 by 120 foot building housing a rolling mill six trains of rolls machine shop and multiple furnaces. About fifty men were employed and insurance totaled $216000 though it covered another mill and a shovel shop.
A four story sandstone Case School of Applied Science building at the Case campus in Cleveland burned early today. The fire, total loss estimated at 200900 dollars, with insurance about 375000. The earlier opened structure cost about 2200000 and housed the latest scientific demonstration appliances.
At 6 40 last evening a fire started in the basement of the New England Visna Company building 82 George Street Roxbury occupied by J Wie Seaman The blaze caused damage about 2500 to the building and 2500 to stock all insured

Louisa Novella, an Italian rag picker at Seymour Paper Company's mill in Windsor Locks Connecticut, was killed when struck by a southbound train as she crossed the tracks after work. About sixty co workers, also crossing at 5 o'clock, have avoided danger until today. The locomotive and three cars passed over her, cutting her in two.
The American Oriental Society met at Yale Theological School in New Haven with about forty members including Harvard Professors Lanman Toy Lyon Columbia Gottheil and Yale participants. Papers were read by scholars from New York Bryn Mawr Harvard and Philadelphia. A reception for the society and Yale officials followed in the evening hosted by President Dwight.

Javerhill October 27. Mr and Mrs 8 P Bradley observed their golden wedding at their Main street home. Guests presented a purse of gold. Sixty guests from Boston attended. Mr and Mrs Metaphor I Caase also marked their fiftieth anniversary at Charles street residence with a large gathering.
Late October 27 report notes the Knights of Labor optimistic after General Committeeman Aylesworth failed to secure a hearing with the Manufacturers Association. They expect relief tomorrow night when General Master Workman will speak at the skating rink.
In New Haven on October 27 Adolf Lang, a Jente's Grocery employee, was seriously burned when a kerosene lamp exploded. He ran into the street with flames consuming his clothing, which was burned off, and suffered severe facial burns as his body burned in a terrible manner.
Miss Ete 5. Gray daughter of Councilman H. R. Gray married Mr. George B. Lawrence of Portland Missouri in a ceremony at the bride’s home performed by Rev. T. C. Pease of the Congregational Church. The couple left for Portland to reside there.
