New York Oct 25 The firm of J P Morgan Co arranged a 300 million dollar loan for the British government. The deal was eased by the favorable money market and completed earlier than Britain planned. The loan is expected to slow the recent heavy gold inflow to the U S and curb inflation fears. J P Morgan sailed for England recently to finalize the arrangement.
T Dennie Boardman a prominent Boston real estate dealer is critically ill with heart trouble at his summer home in Manchester. He has been ill three days and his condition worsened this afternoon requiring oxygen to sustain him.
Charles Grillo, a North End attorney, is elected president of the Italian Red Cross committee in Boston, succeeding Gaspare DiCola who was murdered recently.

Five parcels of real estate in Winchester owned by Thomas W. Lawson and his wife's heirs were seized by the town after failing to pay 1914 taxes and costs totaling 1701. The properties valued at 92175 were offered at auction with no bids. The tax collector said the town will hold the parcels until payment or costs are covered.

Josephine Barbera a saleswoman at F W Woolworths Union Square Somerville was stabbed in the neck near the jugular by 10 year old Francis O Brien of 27 Tyler Street Somerville who she caught stealing lead pencils from the counter yesterday afternoon.
Miss Barbera wrestled with a youth who slashed her neck but she held him until Special Officer Daniel G. Simmons arrived and took the boy to the police station. The youth was released to his parents and will face the juvenile court on Saturday. Barbera received medical care, her neck wound was cauterized, and she returned to work.
Ithaca N Y October 25 The Cornell faculty committee on student affairs declared Frank Clary captain of the 1917 baseball team A R G Valentine and Clayton Wol ford ineligible for further university athletics for allegedly playing summer baseball where admission was charged The committee recommended waiving the rule for Valentine and the faculty will rule again on November 8 after further report
In a heated exchange yesterday Mayor Curley and former city purchasing agent D Frank Doherty accused each other of false claims over Doherty’s Monday exit from municipal service. Doherty called the mayor a liar and Curley returned the insult with similar vigor.
Doherty claims the mayor demanded resignation and accuses the chief executive of lying. The former purchasing agent says he quit voluntarily after refusing a written request to give city business to Thomas H. Glynn, a commission salesman and Tammany Club member. Eddie Kandler testified for the government describing how he and four associates used turpentine and cigarettes to start a February fire in a Dudley Street building. Kandler pleaded guilty earlier and the four others sat nearby as the witness recounted the sequence of events.
During Kandler's direct exam the witness lit cigarettes placed in a match box on the stand. The clock neared 3.42 and at 3:57 the box exploded, a puff echoing like loose powder. Court officers swept the glowing remnants into a trash receptacle.
Mrs. Mary E. Cassell, mother of Edward Cassell president of Melrose Board of Aldermen, burned to death in the cellar of her Union street home Melrose when clothing caught fire from burning papers near a furnace. James P. Cassell found the body after returning from work.
