Farmington Me Oct 24 The great fire destroyed much of the business district and many homes. Fire from Stowell’s stable set off a chain of blazes across Main and Academy streets, burning hotels blocks, jail, post office, churches, stores, and homes. The Lewiston steam engine aided containment as 50 families were displaced and relief committees formed to aid victims and plans for rebuilding.
