Flirt Wins Purse In Nahant Yacht Race
In a 12 mile series race off Nahant the 2 foot keel Flirt by Fabyan and McKee pulled ahead of J. E. Doherty’s centre board Early Dawn, earning a $1000 purse. Despite the Dawn’s late surge on the four mile run the Flirt finished 2 minutes 6 seconds ahead, with the two boats starting at 1 20 p.m. The light southwest breeze favored the Flirt on the long leg to Winthrop Bar buoy and the Dawn closed the gap only to fall short at the line.
