Miners Riot at Wilkesbarre Washery Over Unions

A riot at the Stanton washery of the Lehigh and Wilkesbarre Coal Company in Wilkesbarre Pennsylvnia drew 5000 people as workers left. Police fired when a shot was fired at the locomotive, breaking the cab glass but injuring no one. The mob stoned an electric car. Mayor Nichols addressed the crowd and subdued the disturbance by 10 o'clock.

Boston Public School Meeting Sparks Saloon Alarm

A sparsely attended East Boston Public School Association meeting in Knights of Honor Hall criticized the Boston school committee as weak. Dr W H Ensworth accused a plumbing contract robbery at East Boston High and alleged a plan to move the entrance to Paris Street to bring a liquor saloon within 400 feet, citing police commissioners seen.

Missing skipper, crew of Leading Breeze feared lost at sea

The coasting schooner Leading Breeze was found abandoned seventy miles off Boston Light. Rumors say Captain Dorr and his men may be aboard the Dominion liner Commonwealth bound to Queenstown. Pilot boats and other vessels tracked nearby ships, but no confirmation yet. Cargoes and traffic in port are noted, with several vessels and fish sales reported.
