Interesting suit over loss of steamship Géographique
In Montreal on Oct 22 a case proceeds in Superior Court over the loss of the steamship Géographique and the Minnie Swift. Henri Emile and Pene Emile Bossiere sue Robert Bickerdike for 4839 dollars claiming they rented cattle space and shipped 328 cattle and 233 sheep billed for Southampton. The vessel foundered near Newfoundland after a non fault collision, destroying all cargo. Bickerdike contests the action, noting bills may be made out to others and that only fifty head were billed to him. the case will probe whether collision was accidental.
