Yesterday forenoon James A. L. Whittier was moved from Charles street jail to the state penitentiary at Charles Town to serve a four years and three months sentence for peculations in the Reed case. He entered a solitary cell supervised by Deputy Warden Keene and began serving his isolation with bread and water, while awaiting assignment of work.
