Carriage Crash Claims Life Of 88-Year-Old Man

West Warren October 16. Lewis S S Conkey and Thomas Lavine of Brookfield were thrown from a carriage on a steep hill. Conkey died instantly at 88, leaving a widow and two children. Lavine sustained severe head injuries and remained insensible for some time.

Sixth Regiment Convalescent Men Return to Boston

Eleven members of Company B of the Sixth Massachusetts arrived in Boston on the Fairfax from Fortress Monroe. The convalescent soldiers, many with typhoid or malaria, were in good health and transported to Union Station for trains home.

OFF FOR CANES. WAR INVESTIGATION TRAIN TO SOUTH

Washington, Oct. 16. The war investigation commission left for the South with twenty four aboard a special train provided by the Pennsylvania Railroad. Nine commissioners, staff, and a Post representative travel in a fully fitted rail car entourage to continue work on the inquiry, planning to live aboard the train. Train due in Jacksonville about 11 30 Monday.

Gaelic School Session Adds Ten To Roll At 1371 Washington

At yesterday afternoon's Gaelic school session at 1371 Washington Street the classes were led by P. J. Daly John M Doran and Michael A Murley and ten new students were added including Philip Whelan Thomas Sheehan and Edward J Bassitt among others from Boston South Boston Cambridge Roxbury Dorchester and the Back Bay. After instruction the superintendent read passages on the Gaelic movement in Britain and America. F J O Bovne of Revere played national airs on the piano and John M Doran sang Gaelic and English. The Gaelic school remains free to all.
