Boston Music Hall concert tests municipal orchestra

Mayor enjoyed the performance from the gallery as Boston’s Music Commission debuted before about 1200 attendees. The audience paid a dime to a quarter, stayed through the grand march by Gounod and Emil Mollenhauer’s bow, with the director praising the orchestra and program as an excellent test of ability and public taste.

Bath opens in Bath on Dover street to crowds

Mayor Quincy’s free public bath house on Dover street opened for a Sunday run under Superintendent John Dugan. By 6 pm the tally reached 359 bathers including about eighty women and several city officials. The opening drew many from churchgoing crowds and a line extended well after noon.
