Russian line driven back twenty miles and guns taken

London reports from the Standard’s correspondent at Yental that dated October 10 the entire Russian line has been driven back about 20 miles with 70 guns captured. Pursuit continues on both flanks as Oyama attempts to envelop the enemy. The defeat is attributed to a Japanese wedge into the Russian center.

Murder on Millbury Street Leaves Man Dead on Street

A man unidentified by name was slain on Millbury street at 11 pm. Police chased two men seen with the dead man. one struck him and his jugular vein was severed with a knife. Frank Dix aka Frank Dirga and Joseph Deleski were arrested at their boarding house as suspects.

Two Bodies Recovered After Wentworth Sinking Off Chatham

Chatham, Oct 14. Life saving crews searched the sands for the 12 aboard the Windsor Nova Scotia schooner Wentworth off Pollock Rip. Only two bodies recovered the woman with seaweed in her hair and a man presumed her husband. Wreckage lay along the beach as high seas hampered rescue efforts.

Kuropatkin Surrounded as Russian Force Isolated

A Tokio despatch to the Standard says the Japanese right army isolated three to four Russian divisions in the Bensihu Kiaotau district. It claims KuropatkIn is with the force which appears doomed. The central army took 11 guns and the left 2, with the right’s spoils expected to be greater.
