Groundfish and mackerel lift Boston pier trade heightens
Over a million pounds of groundfish and 842 barrels of fresh mackerel headline a massive pier shipment by 42 vessels since Saturday. Stocks include haddock, cod, hake, pollock, cusk, and scrod haddock with prices ranging from 1 to 4 cents per pound. Coastwise steamers Halifax and Prince Arthur report large consignments, while heavy lumber and cotton cargoes also arrive. Two ships from the Southern hurricane period reach safety as crews await further notices.
