Industrial House Opens Tonight in Cambridge

The Industrial House of St. Mary's Catholic Woman's Association of Cambridge opens with dedication exercises and a ball at St. Mary's Hall. It will function as a trade school offering cooking, dressmaking, millinery and allied subjects, located beside St. Mary's Hall on Prospect Street. Election Board Finds 445 Foss Papers Good for Governor

Election commissioners announced that of 547 names filed on five nomination papers for Governor Foss as an independent candidate, 445 were found good. William H. Dyar, 310 Commonwealth Avenue, filed Wednesday and later retrieved several rejected papers. No new filings for Foss were received yesterday.

Banks Seek PSC Approval to Lease Hampden Railroad

Banking interests holding Hampden Investment Company loaned 1 400 000 with Hampden Railroad stock as security ask the Public Service Commission to approve a lease of the Hampden railroad to the Boston and Maine. Ex President Melien testified that the road cost double expected as the PSC probes charges of extravagance in its construction.

Hampden Railroad Lease Put Off After Bond Hearing

Attorney Frederick E. Snow pressed the commission to approve the lease as a condition for marketable bonds. Chairman Macleod said the lease and bond issues would be considered separately, with the lease after the bond hearing. Officials questioned $123 000 paid to Woronoco Construction for 15 miles of track surfacing, far above the original 15 000 estimate.
