Colonel Dyer Files Nomination Papers for Governor Foss

Colonel William H. Dyer former Middlesex Club president filed with the Election Board to nominate Governor Foss. The action lists 547 names on the papers. Dyer told the Post he backs Foss due to dissatisfaction with Congressman Gardner and not due to the Gardner Benton contest. He added Foss was the choice of many Republicans and skipped the September primaries as uninteresting.

Aigrettes Must Be Removed From Hats on Arrival

Washington October 8. Aigrettes and similar plumage forbidden by the new tariff law must be removed from arriving travellers hats and turned to customs before leaving the wharf. Secretary McAdoo ruled after reports that an aigrette was snatched from a woman in New York. Officials denied the report and promised minimal inconvenience to travelers with courtesy to women bringing aigrettes.

Newburyport reports Mrs. Edward Welch died at Anna Jacques Hospital from injuries suffered when struck by an automobile yesterday. The car was driven by Joseph Farley with owner Lowell J. Foote accompanying, both men residents of the city.
